Why Bother With a Power Meter?
If you’re serious about your ride, you probably already have a heart rate monitor to determine how hard you’re working. As great as heart rate is to measure your effort, it can be affected by factors such as sleep, dehydration, heat, stress or even caffeine intake, and heart rate changes can lag behind short efforts.
Unlike heart rate, a watt is a watt – purely reflecting the power in your pedals regardless of varying physical and environmental factors. A power meter can measure your true effort instantaneously and is the best indicator of fatigue levels and fitness gained, helping you tune your workouts to improve your cycling performance to the max.
Works With Your Setup
With a variety of crank arm models, you’re sure to be able to find a Stages power meter that’ll fit seamlessly into your setup. With each power meter able to pair via ANT+ and Bluetooth, you’ll have compatibility with practically every computer, phone or smart trainer available.
Next-Gen Tech
Built with high-resolution Gen 3 electronics, Stages power meters provide you with enhanced signal strength, consistent capture of power data and transfer, all with high accuracy readings of 1.5%. Employing proprietary strain gauges, Stages power meters can detect even the slightest flex created by your pedal strokes to measure your torque. Accelerometers provide precise measurement of your cadence, which is then used with torque data to calculate your output in watts. This clever setup negates the need for extra sensors or magnets when measuring your output.
Tougher Stuff
The low profile and tough construction of Stages power meters make them more than capable of going where you take them, whether on the road or through tough trails. You won’t have to worry about wet weather either with a casing rated at IPX7 water resistance. Active temperature compensation provides consistent data readings no matter where, when or how hard you’re riding, so you can be sure your results accurately reflect your performance on the bike.
